HOW IT WORKS

What the machine does, and how it is run.

Lifting a rail vehicle for maintenance is not a crane job. The vehicle is long, it is supported at many points, and if those points do not rise together the body takes a load it was never designed for.

This system lifts on 15 axes held in synchronization, so every lifting point moves as one. It is built into the maintenance pit and the workshop around it rather than being a stand-alone machine wheeled into place, with the power and control drives distributed along the vehicle.

Synchronization is the whole specification. A lifting system that is merely powerful will damage a vehicle body; a lifting system that stays in step lets a depot get under a train safely and put it back down without an inspection afterwards.
