THE CHALLENGE

A station is not a factory: it never really stops, the public is inside it, and the architecture leaves technical rooms scattered wherever the structure allows. The automation infrastructure had to reach a soaring concourse, the platform level below it and a set of remote technical rooms — with cable routes fixed by the building, an electrical contractor working to a construction programme, and an operator who needed every zone documented before accepting it.

STARTING CONDITION

A specification, a room schedule and a single-line concept existed. The detailed panel design, the field distribution and the integration to the operator systems did not.
