Rolling air spring press

Rolling air springs are the compact type used where a suspension has to work in a small envelope. They come in convolution counts — one, two or three — and each convolution count needs a different mold height, which is what usually forces a plant into a separate machine per family.

This is a vertical press supplied in two frame sizes so that a plant can cover the family with the right amount of machine. The large frame measures 1050 by 3368 by 1092 mm; the small frame is 900 by 2697 by 900 mm and handles products up to 180 mm diameter across one-, two- and three-convolution parts.

Choosing frame size by product rather than buying one press for everything keeps floor area and press energy proportionate to what is being made — and it means the small frame stays available for small parts instead of being tied up by an oversized job.
