The first panel of a family is an engineering exercise. Panels two through four hundred are a documentation exercise — and that is the part that decides your cost.

A panel family becomes profitable when it stops being designed and starts being reproduced. Getting there is less about the first build and more about how the first build is captured: the released revision, the parts list against an approved component master, the wiring standard, the labelling convention and the test procedure that will be run identically on every unit.

We release a family in three steps. An industrialization review turns your EPLAN set into a manufacturable one, with change notes agreed rather than assumed. A first article is built and inspected against that release. Then a build sheet is issued, and every subsequent panel is built from the sheet, not from someone remembering the last one.

Variants are where families quietly lose money. A family with eleven variants is manageable; the same family with eleven variants and undocumented site modifications is not. We keep variants in a controlled set: each one has its own release, its own parts list and its own test coverage, and a new option becomes a variant rather than a special.

The measure of a well-released family is boring: the same panel arrives the same way for years, a replacement built in year five matches the one installed in year one, and a revision change is a quoted, released event rather than a phone call. Boring is what recurring production is supposed to feel like.
