# Building automation infrastructure, Zayed National Museum

> Control panels and controls integration for a museum where the climate is part of the exhibit protection: engineered by GANI Engineering, built and tested as a documented panel family by GANI Manufacturing.

In a museum the climate is not comfort engineering, it is conservation. Temperature and relative humidity in a gallery decide how fast an object ages, and the control panels delivered here are what hold those conditions and what says, quickly and unambiguously, when they can no longer be held.

The panels sit between the building services and the operator. They switch and protect the plant, carry the controllers that hold each zone to its setpoint, and present the whole building as zones a curator or facilities engineer can reason about rather than as a list of equipment.

The reason a documented panel family matters here more than elsewhere: a museum is audited on its environmental record. A panel set built and tested to one released design, with a test record per unit, is what makes that record defensible years later.

## Starting point

A museum in the Gulf asks two things of its building systems at once: keep galleries within a conservation window that barely moves, and do it in a building designed to breathe through five tall thermal towers. Add a construction site in 45 °C, imported equipment that must survive shipping and storage, and a commissioning window measured against an opening date — and the automation infrastructure becomes a documentation problem as much as an engineering one.

A mechanical and electrical design existed with a defined control philosophy. The panel design, the manufactured hardware and the field-level integration were open.

## What we need from you

- Control philosophy and points list per zone
- Mechanical schedules for air handling, chilled water and the tower ventilation
- Client BMS specification and naming convention
- Ambient and enclosure requirements for the region
- Commissioning programme against the opening date

## Our scope

- Detailed panel design per plant room and gallery zone
- Manufacture of the controller and distribution panel family to IEC 61439
- Climate-rated enclosure selection, thermal calculation and derating review
- Functional test of each panel against its points list before shipping
- Controls programming, graphics and BMS point integration
- Commissioning support with the mechanical contractor on site

## Outcome

- Gallery zones held within their conservation window through commissioning
- One panel family, one labelling convention, one document set across the plant rooms
- Points verified in the factory, so BMS integration on site started from a known state
- Spares and replacement panels reproducible from the build record years later
